ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My hometown Novi, MI is a suburb about 30 miles outside of Detroit. It was an excellent place to grow up and it offered me the opportunity to grow up slowly and joyfully. A credit to my amazing parents and countless blessings. Fast-forward to my twenties, through undergraduate and graduate studies at Wayne State University, spiritual growth through friendships and transcendent conversations with beautifully rooted Metro Detroiter’s – I was exposed to an education that transcended the classroom. Exploring my birth city, whether it be soul searching at the DIA, enjoying beautiful Belle Isle or dissecting our countries racial history and bright possibilities at a snug North End home, has changed my consciousness and perspective forever. I have transformed into a Seeker. A seeker of my purpose, of new destinations-cultures and of depth in the human experience. All it took was 30 Mile’s to expand my grasp on the many realities in this Nation, and the incredible world beyond. Through this blog I will share the discoveries that the Seeker lifestyle awards me. So proud to experience this life, in the depths of love eternal, with my Wife Taylor and Son Isaiah.
ABOUT THE CREATIVE DESIGNER
I grew up in a suburb of Columbus (Worthington, Ohio) where I experienced many firsts. My parents instilled in me curiosity, a desire to experience life to the fullest and to take chances. With these values I experienced instances of dual realities like… many times being the only young black girl in the classroom. And noticing some of my experiences were different than my classmates. To tough choices… such as forgoing college athletics, to prioritize the pursuit of a degree in STEM. Then taking action… a moment that changed my life for the better grew from having a desire to see the world, to experience new cultures and to invigorate my passion to serve. I went on a service project abroad and saw how people that were living polar opposite lives to me, and that were presented with very different cards in life, showed gratitude for their lives and enjoyed every moment they were blessed with.
I pursued my education at The Ohio State University where I earned a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. During school I worked with youth to excite the next generation about pursuing STEM education. Including working with youth programs where students learned how to build websites for local causes and businesses. After graduating, I found my way up North to work on my first project in downtown Detroit, Michigan! Moving to a new city and one with stark contrast in community resources and cultures, I fell in love with the history and the grit that comes with being in Detroit. With my passion to create an environment to allow people to learn, experience and grow, joining 30 Mile Nation was a no brainer!
